Though we’re reaching the time of year when black seems to play a starring role in our everyday style, this year the catwalks are encouraging us to maintain our summery colour palettes for autumn winter.
Designers have a love affair with colour for autumn/winter 2012, here’s our round up of the key colours of the season. We’ve even included our favourite high street shopping picks in these colour palettes for you to persuse.
Red
From deep berry shades right through to oxblood, red dominates this season. Think opulence and team with cashmere or fur to finish the look. Acne (pictured far left), Chanel and Miu Miu were all about these shades of red.
Yellow
The Golden Age has returned according to Mulberry, Moschino (pictured far right) and Louis Vuitton. The full colour spectrum runs from rich, earthy Autumnal ambers to bright mustard yellows. Embrace the season and pair with green and orange. Polonecks and pussy bow blouses add a retro feel.
Blue
Bold cobalt and stormy shades will leave you feeling anything but blue this season if Stella McCartney, Richard Nicoll and Sportmax have anything to say about it. Work the look head to toe by pairing royal blues with lighter sky blues. Meanwhile, metallic silvers can create a cool, futuristic effect.
Purple
If Erdem, Gucci, Christopher Kane and Prada could sum the season up in one colour it would be purple. The palette ranges from rich and regal amethyst to vivacious violets. Baroque prints will make you feel like a purple princess. Wear it with deep raspberry shades for a sultry colour clash.
