Shop Watch: Apple

It’s been a while since our last Shop Watch report but we’re glad to say that this one is worth the wait.  Why? Because Apple, Abercrombie & Fitch, Puma and Spanish brand Tous are all are looking at taking advantage of falling rental prices in Dublin to open new shops.

Apple is on the hunt for premises in Dublin for one of its iconic Apple Retail Stores. We spoke about the New York flagship Apple store in Style City New York so we are very excited that the Apple store is finally coming to Ireland!

The premises that Apple has expressed an interest include the former Habitat shop on Suffolk Street and the former Dunnes Stores on Grafton Street, both of which are vacant at present.

According to an article in the Sunday Tribune newspaper, the computer and media devices giant has appointed a property advisor to find suitable premises.  According to the report, the shop will be run by Apple’s UK licensee and will be about 6,000 sq ft on two levels.

Can you imagine the sleek design and the hours of playing with fashionable accessories and gadgets like iPods, iPhones and gorgeous Macs?

Even my nine year old nephew on holidays in Florida last week ditched the Abercrombie & Fitch store to spend hours in the Apple store while his parents were left to do the sweater shopping that he was originally looking forward to.

Watch this space, as soon as we hear of an opening date we’ll let you know.
